The process for becoming a client of Soundwave varies by how services are funded, and we guide you every step of the way. ​

Provide consent.​

Schedule your initial session. A music therapist will be assigned to you based on your needs, availability, and location.
If funding services through Sunshine Health - Soundwave coordinates a medical evaluation with your physician, and submits an authorization request to Sunshine Health. Sunshine Health will review the request and submit an approval or denial to Soundwave's team. This process usually takes 1-2 weeks.
Paying for Music Therapy
For families with Medicaid, Soundwave accepts Sunshine Health and Molina Healthcare. Individuals with qualifying diagnoses may be eligible to receive music therapy services with no out-of-pocket costs, subject to insurance approval. Our team assists with obtaining the necessary documentation and authorizations from your doctor and handles insurance billing.

For families exploring other funding options, Soundwave is an approved provider for several scholarship programs, including Step Up For Students (FES-UA and PEP) and the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville. Music therapy may also be funded through Florida's Consumer-Directed Care Plus (CDC+) program for eligible participants with an approved purchasing plan.

Soundwave also offers group music therapy sessions through partnering organizations. These programs help make music therapy accessible to more individuals while enhancing existing clinical and community programming.
